Churches of the Kingdom of the Asturias
Built starting in the 9th century, the churches around Oviedo are a testimony to the small Christian kingdom of Asturias during the splendour of the Emirate of Cordoba. Their pre-Romanesque architecture, which holds a unique place in the history of art, had a considerable influence on the development of medieval architecture in the Iberian peninsula.
